“Chikyushi” is a long-term project that begins by carefully introducing all 1,741 municipalities of Japan, and will gradually expand its scope to regions around the world.
We aim to create an online regional encyclopedia that presents each area’s history, culture, nature, and daily life in a clear and accessible way—allowing readers to appreciate the unique character of every place at a glance.
Understanding Japan deeply is the first step to understanding the world. We want to faithfully convey the stories of each region and the lives of its people. Beyond a simple travel guide, we explore the background and soul of every place.
